The Famous Lane's Dressing Sandwich

2 slices of bread
dressing/stuffing from chicken or turkey
little slivers of chicken or turkey
spoonful of drippings from chicken or turkey
butter
mayo

Toast bread slices. Butter and mayo slices. Cover one slice with dressing/stuffing and slivers of chicken. Sprinkle with drippings. Top with other slice.

I got an email from Cheryl this morning saying this:
"Nice idea. On Friday night I was raving about one of my FAVORITE sandwiches that is pretty popular in our family...the Lane Dressing sandwich...YUMMY. Of course I think mom makes the best one but Aunt Juanita was quick to pipe up that Gertie was actually the one that made the best one. :0)"

I'm not sure if the recipe ir right or not so please correct me if I'm wrong and I'll fix it. I can, however, vouch for how delicious this is. We love to have it for breakfast on Sunday mornings when Mom has the chicken cooking for dinner, and also on holiday mornings when it's a turkey that's cooking. Yum, yum, yum!

Have you ever had one? Tell us what you think.

Mom's Quick Ham and Sauce

1 can of ham - the triangular cans are the ones I like to use
1 cup ketchup
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp worchestershire sauce

Mix the last 3 ingredients together in a small saucepan and heat over low-medium heat until well mixed. Place ham into a casserole dish. Pour sauce over ham. Cook in 350 degree oven for half an hour.

This is one of my Sarah's favorite dishes and it's so fast and easy - and delicious!

Explanation

Inspired by another family recipe blog I thought it would be cool to start a family recipe blog for our families. The Lane and Belbin families are so interwined that I decided to put them together in the one family recipe site. I was tempted to call it Betty's Family Recipes because we all know what a great cook Mom is but it's not just a site for Mom's great recipes - it's for everyone to add to.

If you have a family recipe you'd like to contribute, you can email me or post it in a comment. I will copy and paste it into a blog post and attach a label to it. The label list will then serve as a kind of index of the recipes so that it will be easy to find recipes in the different categories. Please ensure that the recipes are recipes you have actually tried, those that have become family favorites, or have been served at a family gathering. It would be great to include information about where the recipe came from, why it's a family favorite, any special times you serve it, etc.

Consider this my Christmas gift to you all - a place for us to gather as a family and share good recipes and good memories. Merry Christmas!
